You may have heard Ms. Giraud pitch any of a number of trips available for ODA students, but her EF Summit trips are some of the best ones offered. Take it from me, someone who just came back from one this past summer.
A Summit is a theme-based trip where you travel around and learn about different aspects of the place you are visiting as well as the culture and history around you. You also get to participate in activities like workshops with global experts who talk about topics related to the Summit theme. At the end of the traveling, students get to experience a Summit conference with 1200 other students and several keynote speakers whom are well known around the world. The experience is truly unforgettable.
Besides being unique learning opportunities, these trips are an opportunity to make friends with teenagers your age from all around the world. On last summer’s trip to Helsinki, Stockholm, and Berlin, I made some friends that I remain in contact with. We traveled with another group from Massachusetts so it was very easy to make friends while we ate meals, and chased trains, planes, and automobiles together.
Our trip was about two weeks long, but the duration of a Summit trip can vary. From the scenery to the food, everything was absolutely exceptional and the aspects of life that we were lucky enough to experience really broadened the horizon for everyone as far as how different things are around the world. From touring the various different cities during the day to enjoying traditional dishes from each location in the evening, the experiences on any EF trip are unforgettable.
Want to try a Summit trip yourself? Enrollment is closing soon for the 2020 Summit to Eastern Europe. The theme is Sports and Wellness and is open to current 7th 8th 9th and 10th graders. See Ms. Giraud if you’re interested.
I would seriously consider one of these journeys!
