Enjoy the break, everyone. When you come back, look around for some new faces. The week after we return, three new students will be joining us. “Linda,” “Andrew,” and “David” will become honorary members of the tenth-grade class.

They will take classes along with other sophomores and may enroll in some cross-grade courses as well such as art or different science and math classes. The Mandarin classes will enjoy having native speakers to enrich their conversation and offer perspective about life in China.

Before the students arrive, they are asked to share a short letter of introduction. Here are some excerpts from the three students coming this January.

“I would like to learn more about cultural staff such as American’s understanding of the social problems … in both China and America. [I’m also interested in the Americans’] ways of learning and keeping GPA on a reasonable level. It would also be a pleasure to actually blend into American society and try to find out similarities and differences, making friends will be necessary too…”.                                                                                          –Andrew

“In the future, I would like to learn education, psychology, neuroscience. I am Chinese. Why would I need to study abroad? Because there are a lot of problems we need to solve.”                                                                       –Linda

“One last thing to be declared, card games are quite appealing to me. There is a special card game called “The Romance of Three Kingdoms.” It is adapted from Chinese history. If I am capable of bringing it here, I am willing to teach you guys about it. I guarantee you it is crazy fun!”                               —David
