For many people music is an escape. Some people listen to music because they just like it and others may listen to it because they are going through a hard time. Also some people listen to music depending on what mood they are in and the type of music they can really relate to.

Recently, I published an article about the musician Jacquees and what his music brought to me. Through his music, I have taken the value of being happy at all times, even if you are going through a hard time.

Depending on your personal taste,  people will respond to music differently. Several in the ODA community were asked to share their favorite music.

“Humble and Kind” by Tim McGraw because it sends a great message about how to live a positive life. A life built on goodness,” says math teacher Amiee Murphy.

Some people listen to music to either get rid of negative emotions or stop from stressing.

“I like the song “One Dance by Drake. No matter what kind of mood I am in it makes me very happy and energetic!!” And makes me want to get up and dance, says sophomore Sereena Feeney.

For many, music is at its finest when you are in your car. When you are in your car you can turn the music up to how high you want it to be without your parents saying, “ turn down the music. You are being too loud.”

“My favorite song right now is “Needed Me” by Rihanna. I love Rihanna and it is such a good song. Her new album ANTI is so good. I also really like” Consideration” by her. I blast the music so loud and sometimes go over my speed thing because of how loud I’m singing to it,” says Junior Emily Dixon.

When it comes to playing sports athletes listen to music that gets them going very fast to put them in the mood and hype for the game.

“I like the song called “Pray” for me by Meek Mill. It puts me in a hype mood when I’m headed to a basketball game. I listen to him because the way he sings is very up-tempo,” says Junior Jacob Garret.

People not only listen to music to enjoy it they also listen to music because it puts them in a good, energetic mood.

“I like the song “Man of The Year” by Logic. This song puts me in a good mood when I feel bad and can also get me ready to play a basketball game because of the meaningful yet up tempo lyrics” says Junior Nate Patrick.

Summer is almost here and you know what that means…more time to jam out to the music you like.
