Do you want to go to have a great time at an awesome event with free food, fun raffles, and fancy costumes? Then come to the ALSO Prom this Friday, May 13th, from 6-10 PM!

Organized by the GSA, ALSO prom is the third annual prom for LGBTQ+ community and their allies. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you can be straight and go to this prom! Sponsored by ALSO Youth, a drop-in center in downtown Sarasota for LGBTQ+ youth, and catered by First Watch, the prom is a very promising event!

“Organizing the ALSO Prom includes getting food donation, getting a DJ, setting up decorations, setting up the Black Box, sending out invitations, e.t.c. ” says one of the organizers, Dr Zitani.

“There is a lot of planning that goes into this. We have a website that sells tickets, teachers in different high schools also sell tickets, and this year we have a DJ named Harry Right. He was the DJ last year.”

ALSO prom will also feature raffles and competitions. Prizes will be given out to people who are recognized as the friendliest, the people who dress most according to the theme, and the best dancers. Many gift cards from Casa Maya, a Mexican restaurant in Lakewood Ranch, First Watch, and Starbucks will be given out in a raffle that will happen during the prom.

The theme for the prom is Over the Rainbow. Wear rainbow colors, or a suit if you want to look sharp and edgy.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. So if you want to save five dollars, go talk to Dr Zitani, Ms Timothy, or Ms Frye as soon as possible to reserve a ticket!

GSA and Sarasota ALSO Youth center and the volunteers who are working on Thursady have all helped tremendously to set up the prom, and at a low price of admission of $20, the ALSO prom is a great event to attend. For everybody!
