- Way to go arts students who are distinguishing themselves as artists in the community. Caroline Whitten is auditioning to get into the Pearlman Music Association. Those who are selected will get to play in a concert with famed violinist Itzhak Pearlman! Abbey Graham and Catherine Williams are auditioning for All-States Orchestra, a rigorous process and prestigious appointment. Good luck, ODA musicians.
Service Opportunities
- Help build a playground at the Visible Men Academy in Bradenton. VMA is a charter school that was the vision of former ODA principal Neil Phillips. The school is open for disadvantaged young boys in Bradenton. They are doing amazing things in creating community and opportunity for young people. On October 12th, they will be assembling the school’s first playground with equipment from KaBoom. They need some help. See Mr. Miller for more info.
- Volleyball Concession Stand needs volunteers for Tuesday’s big game against Mooney. The more volunteers, the more likelihood students can rotate out to see some of the big game during breaks. See Ms. Giraud for details.
- Kiarra Womack will be selling treats to raise money for her chapter of Delta Sigma Theta’s mentoring program. The group mentors young African American girls and will be taking a trip to Jacksonville University this year. See her for details on how to help the group.
