Last Monday the varsity lacrosse team had their Senior Night which means it was also their last home game. The team’s only senior, Hunter Clarke, was honored in front of the entire crowd. He was with his parents and stood in front of the stands as they called his name to reward his efforts. Hunter has been playing lacrosse since the team first formed last year. This year Hunter played strictly defense as opposed to last year when he was a midfielder. Hunter’s level of energy and intensity helped the team get their wins. Hunter has great speed and it is always funny to see him kick the ball because of his footing skills that he acquired from soccer, his main sport.

The game on Monday was played against All Saints Academy. Previously, the two teams had already met and the Thunder won 8-6 in a very close game. However, this game was an easy win for the Thunder who have had good season this year. The game was a 19-7 win. As the only senior leader, Hunter had great importance this season. The team has been having a better season than last year, which was the inaugural year. Losing only one player for the next year, the team feels confident that they will have a similar, if not better, season in the 2014 season.

Friday April 12th, they play their final game. This game will be against Sarasota Military Academy. As junior Jeremy Herrin stated in assembly “it should be a close game.” For all fans that have missed the lacrosse team this year, make sure you head out to the field at 6:00 to see some lacrosse LAX pros in Thunder Stadium.
