Varsity Volleyball Quiets in the Heat
September 5, 2012
The Varisty Volleyball team had a close match yesterday against the Tampa Bay Heat, a team of home schoolers. The Thunder started off strong, and won the first match as they consistently spiked, set, and bumped against the Heat. During the second game, the intensity rose as the ball volleyed over the net. At the end of the game, ODA, with 21 points, about to loose to Heat, with 24 points, picked up their game. They didn’t want to go down without a fight.
The teamwork and competitiveness earned ODA three points, but the Heat then scored, and won the second match. There were three more games to play, and whoever won the most out of the five games would be the winners. For the third game, ODA lost, but it was such a close game that ODA was motivated even more to beat the Heat. That motivation paid off, for ODA won the fourth game. The match could’ve gone either way. The teams were tied, both having won 2 games. This fifth match would show who the real champions are.
The game started off with a lot of back and forth volleying. Eventually, the score was up to 20. Then 21, 22, and so forth… Heat won the final match. The teams then shook hands and congratulated each other on a great match. The games were so close, that no-one could really anticipate who was going to win. Undaunted by this loss, the ODA volleyball team is building excitement and prepping for the next match tonight, September 6th, against Lakewood Ranch high school. The game is away at LWR high. Come cheer on the ODA JV and Varsity Volleyball team. They would love to have your support!
