Baseball Team Bonds in Fort Lauderdale

Over spring break 2012 the Thunder baseball team went on a trip together. On the Friday of Spirit Day they left a little earlier than everyone to take a three and a half hour bus ride to Fort Lauderdale. The team spent five days there. On their trip they played a total of three games, winning two and loosing one. It was a chance for all the players to bond outside of the baseball field.

The players were split up into three different rooms and were not in the same room as their parents, which must have been fun for them. Two of the rooms had Xboxes. The boys also played “some version of baseball” in the parking lot of the hotel. “Eating breakfast, dinners and having fun together really brought the team closer together,” said Athletic Director, Noel Beaulieu.

The first game the team played was against Eagles View Academy. This was the game that the Thunder lost. “They were a very solid team, they also had a lot more players than our team consisting of mostly juniors and seniors,” said Mr. Beaulieu. The next team they played was St. Albans school and the final game was against Westminster Academy.

Mr. Beaulieu has said that this trip was valuable, and he hopes the team can do it again next year. He also said that he would like other sports to do this as well.
