Chorus and Band Collaborate on Movie Night

February 5, 2013
On Thursday, February 7th, join the Upper School Chorus and Band as they perform famous movie songs in their much anticipated Winter production. The concert starts at 7:00 p.m and will take place in the Lakewood Ranch Black Box Theater. Songs will be sung from movies including Les Miserables, Mama Mia, James Bond: Goldfinger, James Bond: For Your Eyes Only, a plethora of Disney movies, and theme songs from Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park. One song that has drawn quite a bit of attention is an a cappella version of Cinderella’s “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes.”
The idea was proposed to Dr. Rosser by Gabby Maraia (’13) and it became a huge hit with the rest of the class, especially Colby Elliot (’14).
“I love Disney songs, but I am mostly excited for James Bond,” Elliot said.
Junior and avid trumpet player, RJ Jansen, explained that the production will open up with the band playing the 20th Century Fox song. He says that his favorite song that the band plays is the theme song for Pirates of the Caribbean.
Even listening to the chorus and band rehearse will get you in the movie mood. During G period, when both groups have class, you can study while singing along! It’s the perfect way to prepare for the big night. Both groups sound fantastic and sound like they thoroughly enjoy what they’re playing; how can you not enjoy popular movie songs?
So, if you enjoy musicals, or movies in general, come on out and sing along with them, it will be a four star performance.
