ODA Track Dominates Districts

Sports like lacrosse, tennis, and softball have all had their district events and some have even advanced into regionals and states. Now, it is the track team’s turn. Yesterday the track team had their district meet at Northside Christian in St. Petersburg where they competed against Northside Christian, Saint Stephens, Cardinal Mooney, Lakeside Christian, Admiral Farragut, Keswick Christian, and Shorecrest Prep.
All the athletes competed in a variety of events, ranging from the 100m, triple jump, and two mile run. It was a long day, going from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., filled with field events, pre-qualifying races, and finals. Races under 300 m had to compete in the pre-qualifiers.
ODA Track had a very successful day, with seven athletes advancing to regionals. The top four competitors of every race made it to regionals.
Senior Reanna Gregory placed 3rd in pole vault with a height of 8 feet.
Senior Tre Gregory was crowned district champion in pole vault, jumping a height of 14 feet!
Senior Madison Shaw qualified for regionals finishing third in both the 110 & 300 m hurdles, with times of 16 seconds and 53.76 seconds.
Sophomore Joey Runge finished 3rd in the 200m dash with an impressive time of 23.62 seconds.
Sophomore Chloe Ruppert finished 4th in the 800 m race with a time of 2:41 seconds.
Sophomore Sophia Gardinier finished second in the 400m dash with a time of 1:03.76 seconds.
Freshman Allison Drzewucki qualified in the 100m dash with a time of 13.56 seconds.
Both the womens & mens 4 x 100 meter relays finished 5th, one spot away from advancing to regionals.
Overall, whether you were a regional qualifier or not, 2015 districts was an amazing day for ODA track, with some crazy difficult competition.
Congratulations ODA Track for an amazing season, and good luck to the regional qualifiers who continue on their journey to states.
