ODA baseball has had an amazing season so far. You can see these guys play out at our own Thunder Stadium, with victories against Mooney, and Lakewood Ranch under their belts.

The track team, just coming off of a successful meet at IMG have started their season off on a high note, competing with big schools like Riverview, and Lakewood Ranch. This year, the athletes are competing in a wide array of events, varying from the 100 meters, to the two mile- to pole vault!

Sophomore Emma Young, who just started pole vault this year says, “It’s definitely the hardest thing I’ve ever attempted.”

2015 has been a big year for ODA softball! Last year softball was discontinued because they did not have enough athletes to make a team, but this year softball has had one of the largest turnouts- more than many other spring sport.

Lacrosse, for both boys and girls have had very successful past seasons, and have kept up their success going into 2015. The boys, with a tough schedule have a record of 2-3, and the girls have a winning record of 4-2.

“Since we won district champs, our coach added tougher games against people not in our district so we can get experience, even if we lose these games, we get exposed to schools who play a different game,” says Sophomore Carling Landeche.

8-3 is the winning record of the boys varsity tennis team. This year the team has come out stronger than ever, even with a team mostly composed of underclassmen.

“It’s a good time to let out all your stress and anxiety. It’s a great experience. You learn a lot about perseverance,” says freshman Matt Jones.

If you haven’t gotten a chance to get out and watch these athletes at their games, head on out to Thunder Stadium and support your friends. These spring sport athletes really deserve it.
