The ODA Arts Department Makes Changes to Arts Day

Imagine walking into the Arts Building and being transported into a world of art and creativity. As you walk through the halls, you see the magical photographs pop off the wall. This is exactly what you will be able to do on Saturday May 3, 2014.

This Saturday, the ODA community will come together to celebrate the different forms of art on the Lakewood Ranch campus. There are some big changes to Arts Day that the ODA Arts Department and both visual and performing arts students are very excited about.

This year, Arts Day will only be taking place in the Arts Building, rather than being spread throughout the Arts Building and the gym like years past. Arts Day will only include fourth through 12th grade, rather than being extended to Pre-K.

Academic Dean and Head of the Arts Department Ms. Evans commented on the changes of Arts Day saying that it is “more of an event that focuses on the Uihlein campus and the art on the Uihlein campus.”

Sophomore and Pre-AP Photography student Miller Condrack commented on the venue change saying, “I am excited to see all the art in the arts building because it gives it a more artistic feel and it seems to natural to be in the arts building instead of the gym.”

Senior and AP Visual Art Student Emma Holland spoke about the changes saying, “I think it draws focus to ODA’s Art Department.” Holland then commented on her feelings about this being her last Arts Day as an invested member of the art community saying, “I am saddened that this is the last opportunity I will have to share my artwork in the ODA community, but I hope to broaden my horizons in the art world.”

Arts Day will be from 1:00pm-6:00pm on Saturday May 3. Be sure to come out and support the ODA Art community and see some amazing artwork done by ODA’s stars!
