A new app sensation taking over ODA? What is this app? What’s it all about?

The new buzz around the social media of ODA has been the app, “Snapchat.” Snapchat is a photo messaging application. When using the app, users can take photos, record videos, add text and drawings, and send them to a controlled list of recipients. These sent photographs and videos are known as “Snaps.” Users set a time limit for how long recipients can view their snaps (ranging from 1-10 seconds), after which they will be hidden from the recipient’s device and deleted from Snapchat’s servers forever.

Sophomore, Trenton Radigan said, “Snapchat is a way I can send embarrassing photos and videos to friends knowing they will never be copied or held against me. Its nice knowing no one can copy an embarrassing photo of you and send it out to whomever they want. It lets me be myself. Snapachat is by far one of my favorites apps,” said Trenton.

Out of fifteen people chosen at random from ODA, twelve said they use Snapchat while the other three have heard of it, but just don’t use it. It has clearly spread through the lives of many students.

Eighth grader, Drew Bavaro said, “Snapchat has taken over the middle school. Everyone uses it to connect with each other through funny photos and videos. I don’t know many people who don’t use it. I don’t know about other people, but I love it. It’s one of my favorite apps.”

Snapchat has become the new norm at ODA and there is no telling how long this will last.

Go check it out and see if you like it, because Snapchat is here to stay…at least for now.
