Thunder celebrates after defeating the Cardinal Mooney Cougars for the District championship

Drew Fineberg, Staff Writer

Last Friday the Out-of-Door varsity baseball team won one of the most important games in ODA baseball history defeating the Cardinal Mooney Cougars. After losing to them earlier in the year, they came into the game as the underdog. With a lead of  9-0 and the game coming to an end soon, they realized they had this one in the bag. With a final score of 11-3 the Thunder became the new district champions.

Tyler Dietrich, a sophomore on the team, said that it felt great to destroy Mooney and that he is looking forward to making it further in states.

Being that the team consists of one senior and then all the rest underclassmen, they have two more years to continue to prove themselves. Two of the sophomores, Tyler Dietrich and Desmond Lindsay, have already verbally signed to schools. Hopefully there are many more to come.

Trenton Radigan, a freshman on the team, said that even though he does not play much, he loves his team and can’t wait for the next game.

This season has been great. Though the team lost 1-0 to Calvary Christian Thursday May 2nd in extra innings, they had an amazing season! There is a lot of skill on the young team. We look forward to watching them in the coming years as they continue to get better in their quest to win the  championship.
