Young Group Shows Great Talent Early In the Season

It’s baseball season again. Last year, the ODA varsity baseball team went 18-3 but hope to do better this year. They have been practicing for a month now, but they have been training all year for the season. They trained with Rod, the school trainer, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and the days they were not training they were on the fields throwing. Now that they practice everyday from 3:15 to 5:15 they don’t train with Rod anymore until the season is over. The team’s goal is to make it to States and many say that they have enough skill on the team to make it their best year.
This goal could be challenging, however. This season the team no longer has Zach Hoppe and Joe Grano, two very important players who graduated last year. The team is mostly sophomores,  a very young team. Despite the fact that they are young, they have a lot of talent. They recently just played their first game versus Canterbury School from Ft. Myers and won 10-1. Desmond Lindsay ’15, hit the first home run on the team for this season. This young group of players also won a pre-season tournament where they beat a very skilled AAu team in the finals.
If you want to see this very skilled young team play, they have a game tonight, Friday, February 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Bishop Verot Catholic High School in Ft. Meyers. Their first home game is on the 22nd of February versus Booker High School. Please come out and watch. They can use your support and are a very fun team to watch.
