Student Council Partners with ODA’s Toys for Tots in a Sweet Exchange

It’s the winter season and many of us are in the holiday mood, which is making studying for exams sort of challenging.  There are Christmas trees and menorahs everywhere, and the scent of peppermint mochas is lingering in the air. Starbucks’ famous red holiday cups are accumulating like snowfall in the trash cans around campus. To embrace the season, student council is selling candy cane grams!

What better way to deal with your exam stress than by eating a candy cane? Believe it or not, peppermint can boost focus and concentration! A study published in a 2011 edition of the Natural Journal of Neuroscience stated that the aroma of peppermint can lead to improved memory and alertness. So if you see your friend getting stressed out about exams, then sending a candy cane could do the trick to calm them down! Also, think about how nice it is to give an affordable gift to your friend.

Tim Brewer, student council advisor and Director of Fun, says that student council will partner with ODA’s Toys for Tots toy drive and donate all the proceeds to be used in purchasing presents for local kids.

If you want to buy one, just get an order slip from your class representative, fill it out, and you’re done! They each cost $1. The last day to send them will be Thursday the 13th. They will be delivered Friday the 14th.

Oh, but there is one thing you should know. Gretchen Weiners don’t get any!
