The History Final May End Earlier Than Planned…

You wake up. It’s December 21, 2012, the day some believe they will be taking their history final. But some predict that day will be the end of the world as we know it. Arriving at school, you need to decide between getting your number two pencils out of your locker or going to Thunderdome, the only space on campus that might survive an apocalypse. As your mind begins to flow with historic thoughts during the final, it sounds like the Persian War is happening outside. An earthquake just destroyed the lunch room. No pizza this Friday.

As you finish your final, you walk outside, and basically get to decide how you will die. Would you rather fall into the cracks of the earth or be burned by a massive fire. But before you can decide, a huge wave comes and knocks you out. You are buried deep in the quad.

No one really knows what will happen on December 21, 2012, but as most of us know from the movie 2012, it doesn’t look good.

Many people believe that the world will end that day, based on the Mayans, an ancient culture who predicted that the world will end on this day based off of the end of the Mayan cycle. But how do they really know? Who would want to be stuck at school taking a history final while the earth around them is being demolished? Shouldn’t schools be closed that day for people to spend time with their family? Even if nothing occurs, people may still go crazy thinking that the end is near.

“History final.” The end of history. This is the last day on the Mayan calendar. No more wars or revolts. Everything we’ve created comes to an end. At ODA, we are taking our final history exam for the semester, and we may NEVER get our grades back.

If the world really does end, there is NO point of studying for weeks in advance if we’re doomed to die. We should all be enjoying the last few weeks we have left, rather the studying for days.

You can think whatever you want, but we will all eventually find out if the world will end.

Comment below YES if you think the world will end, and NO if you don’t believe it will. And if the world doesn’t end, I’m sure you can check The Bolt for some more stories about how the day went down.

Ask yourself this: Would you rather be taking a history final or enjoying your final day?
