Volleyball Season Starts Off Striking

The girl’s volleyball team last week started off with a well-earned win against Sarasota Christian. Their teamwork throughout the game and their impeccable passes, sets, and kills, enabled them to finish the first game well. The final score was 25-23, 18-25, 25-21, and 25-21. They practically pulverized the team.
Just two days after their first win, the girls took their second win against Southeast High School. The final score was 25-15, 25-10, and 25-17.
After these wins, the girls have earned confidence and stamina and are beyond ready to play their rival, Cardinal Mooney.
The intensity of a rival vs. rival game is spellbinding. Both teams had generous support from their fellow peers cheering them on, along with some parents and faculty. The girls wanted to win this game more than any other to show the Cardinal Mooney Cougars that their actions in the past don’t always lead to a win.
The first game started off well with a win (25-22). The next game was extremely close, and came down to the last few points in which the ball had slipped, and we made a few critical mistakes. Mooney won (25-21).
At this point, ODA and Cardinal Mooney were tied. We had each won one game. Whoever could get to three wins first, would win.
The next game ended with another loss. (25-15) But with this loss, the team did not loose hope to win. There was still a chance if they kept the ball in the air and made sure to talk and communicate.
ODA fights back and wins the last game 15-9.
Even with their excellent teamwork and best efforts to win, they could not beat them.
Even though the team lost, ODA will still have another chance against Cardinal Mooney, at our home court. The game with be Tuesday 9/24/13, so come out and support, and we will hopefully come out with a win.
Cardinal Mooney may have beat us in the game of volleyball, but they will never beat our school spirit.
