Thunder Chased Away by the Lightning
September 22, 2012
First home game of the season: ODA Thunder versus St. John Neumann Celtics kicks off home game series in Thunder Stadium. The Thunder got off to a slow start, until sophomore, Austin Hoppe, with assistance from quarterback Evan Wilson, got things moving on the scoreboard for the Thunder with the team’s first touchdown of the game. Junior, Drew Fineberg, offered a fierce interception before the game was delayed for 55 minutes due to lightning strikes.
Thunder fans offered support by wearing white shirts, glitter, and body paint. Pep club made mad, flag-bearing dashes on the track. Cheerleaders were ready with synchronized steps, formations, and unified cheers to encourage fans.
Despite good fan support, Thunder ended up losing the game when play began again. Don’t worry, team. We know the Thunder’s just getting started.
Final score: Thunder 21, Celtics 42
